Mirtos has a delightful subtropical climate. Thanks to the mountains north of the village, the sometimes fierce northern winds are mostly kept at bay. This results in lovely springs, warm summers, a mild autumn, and even pleasant temperatures in winter, though there may be the occasional rainy day.
Spring (March-May)
After winter, temperatures rise from a cool 10-15℃ at the beginning of March to a pleasant 20-25℃ by early April, peaking at 25-30℃ in June. There may be a few rainy days, but they are short-lived. By April, the beach is already a great place to relax under a clear blue sky, with only the occasional passing cloud. The tavernas are all open again, and the pleasant temperatures make this time perfect for leisurely walks in the mountains or exploring the island. In the evenings, it can cool down below 20℃, but with a light jacket or sweater, you can still enjoy sitting on the taverna terraces.
Summer (June-August)
From mid-June, temperatures climb to 30-35℃. The sky is clear, and the sea provides refreshing relief. The beach may get slightly busier, but there are always plenty of free sunbeds and umbrellas provided by the taverna owners. In the evenings, it remains pleasantly warm with temperatures between 25 and 30℃. Mornings are perfect for a walk or breakfast at Hotel Mirtos or Taverna Liviko. In short, it’s the perfect weather for an active day, interspersed with sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying delicious meals on the boulevard.
Autumn (September-November)
Autumn is similar to spring, but it gradually cools as November approaches. In October, Mirtos’ residents begin preparing for their second job: harvesting olives and oranges. Nonetheless, the beach remains a great place to relax, and the evenings are still enjoyable on the boulevard. During the day, temperatures range between 20 and 25℃.
Winter (December-February)
In winter, the village becomes peaceful again. The locals are busy harvesting olives and citrus fruits. Temperatures fluctuate between 15 and 20℃, with some rain to keep the island green. Snow falls in the mountains, making this time ideal for those seeking peace and escaping the cold in Northern Europe, while enjoying the pleasant temperatures and nature around Mirtos. It’s perfect for hiking, with evenings spent on your terrace, sipping wine in the village’s calm and silence.
Life here truly follows the seasons. In summer, spring, and autumn, we enjoy the warmth, balmy evenings, and the wonderful Greek lifestyle, while in winter, we embrace tranquility.
This is my Mirtos, the village I love, and where I warmly welcome you.
